Care Coordination
Care Coordination is a service that assists persons 60 years and older living in Accomack and Northampton counties to remain independent for as long as possible. Care Coordination provides information, referrals, comprehensive assessments, as well as the coordination and monitoring of available services. For more information call (757)-442-9652.
Head Start
The Head Start Program, a federally funded program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, serves pre-school children from low-income families on the Eastern Shore. Head start is a comprehensive program of child development with a primary focus on school readiness skills.
The Head Start staff works with community resources to provide a full range of service to children and their families, including training, counseling, speech therapy, and referral to emergency services and employment.
Project Discovery/Horizons
Project Discovery is an innovative youth program that gives low income and minority students in grades 7 through 12 a chance for a better life by exposing them to options after high school. Consequently, it helps middle and high school students become the first in their families to go to college.
Project Discovery involves the active participation of individuals, institutions, and organizations of the community working together to provide enriching experiences for the student/participant.
